Roland SJ-540 Encoder Strip is used for encoder sensor to position the printhead and so if encoder strip is dirty and encoder sensor can not read encoder strip position correctly. And printing will be Offset. That’s why when your printing has offset line and you will definately need to replace Mutoh Valuejet 1604 Encoder Strip. Also you can use alcohol to clean encoder strip at one way, but if there is phsyic damage at encoder strip and it will be gabage and useless. How to clean Printer Encoder Strip? You will need Isopropyl Alcohol, Cleaning Swabs and Paper Towels. Putting two drops of alcohol onto each side of the cleaning swab. Dab the swab on the paper towel to soak up any excess liquid. Wipe the exposed area of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip gently in one direction, do not try to scrub the strip or bend it. Repeat the cleaning for the back of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip. Put the machine into Cleaning Mode under the Maintenance Sub-Menu. You will now be asked to remove the maintenance cover on the left side of the printer. After the Head Carriage moves to the left side of the printer, continue to clean the area of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip that is now exposed over the docking area. blade replacement. The carriage moves to the cutting blade position for replacement. Then message should be
displayed at the operation panel like the following.

How to Replace Encoder Sensor
There are four or five cables at all printer or machine Encoder Sensor. These four cables must be connected to printer head board correctly.
Encoder Sensor Gnd Ground Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board Ground Line. Most of head board Ground Line is located at the one end.
Encoder Sensor Vcc Power Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board Power Line. Power is DC 5V. Most of head board Power Line is located at the other end. But you should double check Power Line to make sure. Otherwise the RED LIGHT at the encoder sensor cannot be ON.
Even wrong connection can not burn your head board because this power line is just DC 5 V. That’s why you can test your cable connection is correct.
Encoder Sensor chA Direction Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board A Line. This line controls printer moving direction A (Right or forward). It’s OK if you connect chA and chB wrong first time, and just switch chA with chB.

If there is ink dropping down, it will prove your ink line is not sealed perfectly.

Also you can use alcohol to clean encoder strip at one way, but if there is phsyic damage at encoder strip and it will be gabage and useless. How to clean Printer Encoder Strip? You will need Isopropyl Alcohol, Cleaning Swabs and Paper Towels. Putting two drops of alcohol onto each side of the cleaning swab. Dab the swab on the paper towel to soak up any excess liquid. Wipe the exposed area of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip gently in one direction, do not try to scrub the strip or bend it. Repeat the cleaning for the back of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip. Put the machine into Cleaning Mode under the Maintenance Sub-Menu. You will now be asked to remove the maintenance cover on the left side of the printer. After the Head Carriage moves to the left side of the printer, continue to clean the area of the Epson Printer Encoder Strip strip that is now exposed over the docking area. Encoder Sensor Gnd Ground Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board Ground Line. Most of head board Ground Line is located at the one end.
Encoder Sensor Vcc Power Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board Power Line. Power is DC 5V. Most of head board Power Line is located at the other end. But you should double check Power Line to make sure. Otherwise the RED LIGHT at the encoder sensor cannot be ON.
Even wrong connection can not burn your head board because this power line is just DC 5 V. That’s why you can test your cable connection is correct.
Encoder Sensor chA Direction Cable ⇄ must be connected to printer head board A Line. This line controls printer moving direction A (Right or forward). It’s OK if you connect chA and chB wrong first time, and just switch chA with chB.
